If you enjoy baking, you may use your free time to scroll through countless blogs and create a portfolio of recipes to make. In many of these blogs, the author will highlight the importance of using quality ingredients to get your desired result – a tasty treat!
Similarly to baking, there are 5 key ingredients to developing a high-quality pre-apprenticeship program. These ingredients, also known as elements, have been identified by the PA Apprenticeship and Training Office (ATO) as the key to building high-quality pre-apprenticeships.
- Connection to Existing Apprenticeship Programs: These connections allow successful pre-apprentices pathways into these registered apprenticeships with the potential to gain advanced standing.
- Approved Training and Curriculum: This curriculum can be built in partnership with your apprenticeship program partners to ensure pre-apprentices are learning skills for the industry/occupation and apprenticeship program.
- Hands-on Learning: Hands-on learning allows pre-apprentices to gain a better understanding of the role they are training for, and they may ultimately do in a registered apprenticeship program.
- Opportunity to Earn an Industry-Recognized Credential: Industry-recognized credentials help successful pre-apprentices enter the workforce or registered apprenticeship program, ready to succeed.
- Access to Support Services and Career Counseling: These wraparound services allow pre-apprentices to identify additional barriers to successful employment and obtain resources to combat those barriers.
