As we celebrate the accomplishments of registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs throughout the nation, we celebrate the partnerships that make programs and apprentices successful and sustainable. Today, we highlight the partnership between Drexel University and Nemours Children’s Health.
Nemours Children’s Health is a pediatric healthcare system located in Wilmington Delaware with Primary Care and Specialty Care offices in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. From the launch of Drexel’s Certified Clinical Medical Assistant apprenticeship in May 2024, Nemours has been a consistent and supportive partner in supporting their joint cohort. Nemours’ Workforce Director and Ambulatory Clinical Nurse Educator are tireless in ensuring apprentices receive adequate hands-on experiences and meet with Drexel regularly to coordinate across counties and offices to support their apprentices. To further show their sponsorship, they host a weekly office hour for apprentices to drop-in and tell leadership how they can be supportive and what resources they need to be successful.
Drexel has attributed Nemours’ commitment to the apprentices’ journey as a driving force in their successful partnership. Drexel hopes to continue this partnership to provide opportunities for individuals who have historically been unable to enter family-sustaining career pathways.
