Princess graduated from World Communication Charter School in June 2016 and shortly after enrolled at Harcum College to study criminal justice. Princess has a love for school and learning though due to financial costs, Princess left Harcum college after the first year. She enrolled with Philadelphia Job Corps in Winter 2017 with the initial plan to enroll in the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, but was instantly drawn into the Pharmacy Technician program. Her interest in working in the healthcare field started at a young age shadowing her grandmother’s healthcare career at Pennsylvania Hospital.
Through the apprenticeship, I have come to appreciate that patience is key and learned to understand that everyone has a story. I enjoy applying classroom lessons into practice at CVS Health.
As part of the pre-apprenticeship program, Princess started her CVS Health externship in spring 2018 completing 160 hours and shortly after interviewed and was hired into the Pharmacy Technician Registered Apprenticeship program in July 2018. During her apprenticeship, Princess will receive over 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job learning under the guidance of a Pharmacy Technician mentor, while participating in over 144 hours of related training conducted by CVS Health.
Princess is interested to continue her career with CVS Health after she completes the Registered Apprenticeship program. She is planning to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam by the end of year to become a Lead Pharmacy Technician at CVS Health. She is also eager to go back to school to finish her criminal justice degree to leverage her experience in the pharmacy with the hopes of starting a career in law enforcement with a narcotics focus.
